The Client

Solar First is a renewable energy installer based in Rutland, serving homes and businesses across Rutland, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire.

The team designs and installs solar panel systems, battery storage, EV chargers and air-source heat pumps with a focus on tidy work, clear guidance and sensible upgrades.

The Brief

Ross came to us in June 2025 after an underwhelming experience with a previous SEO company.

The website looked the part but it was hard to navigate, light on internal links, awkward on mobile and had no sensible place for fresh content.

Technical issues and thin metadata were holding visibility back and local search wasn’t set up properly.

He wanted a practical plan that fixed the basics, built a content engine and turned organic interest into steady leads.

The Solution

We started with a mini-audit, then went deeper once we saw how much was being missed.

Technical and setup.

Fixed heading structure, trimmed oversized images, added missing alt text and cleaned up page titles and meta. Set up Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, GA4 and Microsoft Clarity. Reviewed Google Business Profile and standardised name, categories and service areas.

Core pages, rebuilt.

Rewrote and restructured the key service pages for Solar Panels, Solar Batteries, EV Chargers and Air Source Heat Pumps. Created dedicated “Installation” pages where it helped intent. Tweaked layouts so pages read cleanly on mobile as well as desktop.

Service-area coverage.

Planned and rolled out location pages so people searching locally could land on something that matched what they wanted. Internal links were added so authority flowed to the right places.

Content hub.

Launched a blog area and published six topical posts to catch seasonal and long-tail searches, then linked those posts back into the relevant service pages.

Lead capture.

Integrated Fuze so enquiries are captured cleanly and attributed, with UTMs standardised so GA4 lines up with what lands in the inbox.

Direct mail support.

Produced a concise brief and data spec for a targeted mail campaign to complement the organic work.

The Results

Organic visibility grew by 152% year on year in 2025 versus 2024.

Priority fixes and refreshed service pages started working quickly, with enquiries landing in the first month.

A clearer structure, nine new core pages and a new content hub with six topical posts helped Solar First show up for the right searches across Rutland, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.

Local signals and a tidier Google Business Profile improved map and local results.

Lead capture is now consistent through the site and Fuze, and reporting lines up so it is obvious which pages and locations drive enquiries.
